Wideband Wide‐Scanning Phased Array Based on Connected SIW Cavities and Slit Antenna
ABSTRACT This paper presents a novel broadband phased array antenna with wide‐angle scanning capability. The antenna elements utilize an I‐shaped slot to couple energy from the feed, exciting two distinct modes within two differently sized SIW cavities positioned above it. An impedance matching network at the feed point is used to enable broadband radiation performance. Meanwhile, top‐loaded dipoles are incorporated to enhance the H‐plane scanning characteristics. The resulting array achieves a 40% bandwidth while maintaining effective scanning up to ± 60° in the H‐plane.
