Research on the Estimation of Forest Aboveground Biomass Dynamics Using Sentinel-2-Based Remote Sensing Factors

To investigate the correlation between the red-edge bands of Sentinel-2A satellite imagery and the inversion of aboveground biomass in forest resources, this study selected the Bamiantong Forestry Bureau in Heilongjiang Province, China, as the research area. Utilizing topographic data and 10 m resolution multispectral data from Sentinel-2A imagery, combined with survey data from sample plots in the study area, an inversion equation for forest aboveground biomass at the sample plot level was established to quantitatively estimate the forest aboveground biomass. To effectively evaluate the remote sensing information that may affect biomass inversion, this study focused on analyzing the impact of the setting and optimization of remote sensing red-edge ratio bands on the establishment of forest aboveground biomass inversion models and estimation accuracy. The results indicate that setting different types of ratio bands, especially red-edge bands, will influence the selection of optimal variables, and the configuration of red-edge band remote sensing information significantly affects the improvement of estimation accuracy for forest aboveground biomass.
