Performance Evaluation of a High Gain Converter for Photovoltaic Applications Based on a Nonisolated Active Switched Inductor

Nowadays, the solar system has been a replacement of fossil fuels-based power generation. Because the emission of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\text{CO}_{2}$</tex> and other harmful gases contaminating the environment and endanger human's health. This green energy is eco-friendly and non-pollutant. Recently, the solar system takes part in satisfying the world's power demand. However, the environmental factors impact its power generation. As it is varies with the temperature and irradiance. To tackle this, a PV fed active switched inductor based high gain converter is employed in this study. The coupled inductors present in this converter enhance the voltage gain of the converter. Also, the proposed Incremental Conductance MPPT controller responds faster to the change in output voltage and current of a solar cell. This has been regulating the switching cycle of converter to attain the desired output voltage. With low input voltage and current, the proposed converter obtained significantly high output voltage and current of 598 V and 19.01 A at duty ratio of 0.43, respectively. The experimental resulting evaluating that, this study has remarkably increased efficiency of the solar system under variable environmental conditions.
