Design and Validation of the Jigsaw Cooperative Virtual Laboratory Modules on Selected Topics in Senior High School Chemistry
There have been sufficient studies that suggest positive student learning in chemistry using virtual laboratories; however, issues on potential cooperative structures are often not explored. This research explores the design process and considerations in creating the Jigsaw Cooperative Virtual Laboratory Modules (JCVLM) in three chemistry topics (chemical bonding, stoichiometry, and gas laws). Elements of cooperative learning (Positive interdependence, face to face promotive interaction, individual accountability, interpersonal and social skills, and group processing) were considered in the design of the JCVLM. Experts in the field of chemistry education and teaching and learning were consulted to validate the module for observance of the cooperative learning elements. Lastly, students’ acceptance of the technology was explored to have initial validation of the module.
