SVM Implementation of the 4-Switch Non-Inverting Buck-Boost Y-Inverter

This paper proposes an innovative modulation and control approach for the recently introduced Y-Inverter. With relevance specifically to the 4 -switch non-inverting buck-boost configuration, a methodology is put forward, which uses spacevector modulation of the input-side buck-legs and open-loop constant-duty switching of the output-side boost-legs. The proposed approach enables simplified control and its hardware implementation burden, while at the same time maintaining all the benefits of space-vector modulation, in the various schemes, which have been abundantly proposed for the most diverse application needs.

Abstract

This paper proposes an innovative modulation and control approach for the recently introduced Y-Inverter. With relevance specifically to the 4 -switch non-inverting buck-boost configuration, a methodology is put forward, which uses spacevector modulation of the input-side buck-legs and open-loop constant-duty switching of the output-side boost-legs. The proposed approach enables simplified control and its hardware implementation burden, while at the same time maintaining all the benefits of space-vector modulation, in the various schemes, which have been abundantly proposed for the most diverse application needs.
