Implementation and Control of a DC Microgrid with Power Sharing via CAN Communication
This paper presents implementation and control of a DC microgrid integrating multiple power converters and employing the controller area network (CAN) communication for coordinated power sharing. It consists of a dual active bridge (DAB) DC-DC converter, which steps up a 51.2 V 110Ah LFP battery to a 400 V DC bus, and two interleaved bidirectional buckboost converters connected to a 256V 55Ah LFP battery, and a DC-AC inverter with an LC filter and passive damping. The system employs unbalanced synchronous reference frame control for the single-phase DC-AC Inverter, enhancing voltage quality under nonlinear loads. The master buck-boost converter regulates DC bus voltage and transmits Battery power reference via CAN bus to ensure proportional power sharing. Experimental results validate the stability of the DC bus voltage, effective power sharing, and real-time load adaptation in an off-grid scenario, demonstrating the reliability of the proposed system
