A Stabilization Control Strategy for Svg to Mitigate Subsynchronous Oscillations Caused by PMSG-Based Wind Farms
Grid-following permanent-magnet synchronous generator (PMSG)-based wind farms connected to weak grids are susceptible to sub/super-synchronous oscillations (SSOs). This paper investigates the application of a static var generator (SVG) to mitigate SSOs induced by PMSG-based wind farms. Firstly, a refined impedance model of the grid-connected system, which includes a wind farm and an SVG, is developed. Secondly, a stabilization control strategy and corresponding parameter design methodology for the SVG are proposed to improve the system's damping characteristics. The impact of the proposed strategy on system stability is thoroughly analyzed. Finally, the SSO phenomenon is reproduced through time-domain simulations, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed stabilization control strategy.
