Effectiveness Analysis of TrexLabel in Automated Annotation of Wuwei Hanjian Plates and Facsimile Images

With the rapid development of automated annotation technology, progress has been made in the field of image processing of cultural relics. This paper examines the effectiveness of TrexLabel, an automated annotation tool applied to images of Wuwei bamboo slips. The study compares the performance of topographic images with that of plate images, with data from the book Wuwei Bamboo Slips published in 2005. The high quality of the facsimile images makes their PSNR values higher than those of the plate images, showing better annotation performance and achieving lower leakage rate and higher accuracy. Experimental results demonstrate that TrexLabel achieves competitive accuracy while minimizing false negatives, a critical requirement for archival applications. Furthermore, the system's adaptability to diverse image conditions underscores its potential for broader deployment in digitization projects. This work contributes a scalable and computationally efficient solution to the challenges of automated annotation, addressing both technical and practical needs in cultural heritage preservation. The proposed method not only reduces manual annotation effort but also enhances the reproducibility and consistency of digitized historical records.
