Control Strategy for Inverters Mimicking Frequency Characteristic of Diesel Generator Sets
Due to fast frequency response of the inverter, it is easy to be overloaded in parallel with a diesel generator set (DGS) when suffering from a load surge. In this paper, the idea of operating an inverter to mimic the frequency characteristic of a DGS is proposed, which can avoid overload of the inverter. This paper analyses the mathematical model of the speed control system of DGSs, based on which, the frequency control strategy of the inverter is designed. Both simulation and experimental results are given to verify the idea.
