QUALIDADE DE VIDA E ATLETAS COM DEFICIÊNCIA VISUAL: A PRODUÇÃO DE CONHECIMENTO NO CENÁRIO ACADÊMICO BRASILEIRO

The objective of this study is to map the scientific production on quality of life and its relationship with sports and visual impairment within the scope of studies developed in Physical Education in the Brazilian academic scenario. Methodologically, a qualitative and quantitative study is used in the data analysis, since it seeks to analyze the profile of publications in the CAPES Catalog of Theses and Dissertations with regard to the year of publication, the geographic region, the institution to which the research is linked, the theme and the methodological approach used. To this end, the search for the material focused on dissertations and theses defended between 2014 and 2024, considering that the time frame was based on the interest of covering what has been scientifically produced in the last ten years within the scope of studies in the area of Physical Education. It is suggested that the relationship between quality of life and athletes with visual impairment be further explored within Physical Education studies, considering that in contemporary times this theme has become more evident in Brazilian society. Furthermore, it is suggested that postgraduate programs in other regions of the country begin to consider this topic in their research, or at least adapt it to other realities, since not all states have high-performance athletes with visual impairment.
