Design of an Improved 2D-VI-CFAR Constant False Alarm Rate Detection Method
Frequency-modulated continuous-wave radars are widely used in military airborne and missile-borne equipment such as radars and radio fuzes to detect the speed and distance of targets. Aiming at the problem of suppressing clutter and noise interference in low-frequency LFMCW radars, a 2D-VI-CFAR detector that extends the VI-CFAR detection strategy to the two-dimensional range-Doppler spectrum is proposed. The selection of the "window" and parameters of the constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detector are given, and the corresponding detection strategy and algorithm implementation process are provided. Through simulation comparisons, compared with traditional CFAR detectors using strategies such as cell averaging (CA), greatest of (GO), and smallest of (SO), the 2D-VI-CFAR algorithm demonstrates superior detection performance in homogeneous environments, multi-target environments, and clutter edge environments. The algorithm is advanced and has great potential for engineering applications.
