Natural Transient-Behavior-Based Control Technique for DC-DC Converter System with High-Inertia Loads
The existing close-loop control techniques are more relying on the control operation for realizing the stable converter system, which may ignore the control potential of converter system. In this paper, the natural transient-behaviorbased control technique is presented for simplifying the control design of dc-dc converter system with some high-inertia loads such as battery and super capacitor. The transient process under this control technique is divided into lots of small transient processes, and the converter system can return to the steady-state condition in each small process. Different from the existing control technique, the stability of the converter system is determined by its transient behavior for step response, and when the control period is bigger than the settling time, the stability of the converter system can be ensured. Therefore, the inner-loop operation is used to realize the current or voltage step change on the primary side of the converter system. Besides, based on the relationship between the desired value and the actual value, the outer-loop operation is only employed to determine the change direction of the current or voltage. Then, the over integration can be avoided, and there will be no current or voltage spikes. Finally, simulation and experiment results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed theory.
