Design of a Wide-Temperature-Range Linear Displacement Sensor with Online Calibration Capability

With the continuous maturation of technologies such as artificial intelligence and intelligent manufacturing, informatization has become one of the critical directions in the development of contemporary science and technology. Linear displacement sensors are devices used to measure the linear displacement of objects, among which the Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) is a displacement sensor based on electromagnetic induction. LVDTs offer advantages such as non-contact measurement, high precision, and high reliability. With the advancement of industrial technology, the demand for LVDT applications in high-temperature environments has been increasing. Examples include the measurement of displacement and vibration of critical components such as turbine blades and combustion chambers in aircraft engines, the measurement of pipe expansion and vibration in high-temperature cooling systems of nuclear reactors, and the measurement of displacement and deformation of internal components in high-temperature reactors in the petrochemical industry. In high-temperature environments, the output signal of an LVDT may drift due to factors such as material degradation and thermal expansion. As the long-term measurement errors of the sensor gradually accumulate, the measurement accuracy declines. Additionally, LVDTs require regular disassembly for maintenance and calibration during use, which is time-consuming. Moreover, reassembly after disassembly poses safety risks and can significantly impact equipment performance. To better meet the requirements of high-temperature environments and enhance the environmental adaptability of sensors, this paper introduces a linear displacement sensor (LVDT) with the capability for non-disassembly online calibration. This innovation enables rapid online calibration.
