Advance in Three-Phase PLL Fault Ride Through Capabilities: A Novel Approach
The stability of inverter-interfaced distributed generators (IIDGs) during and after faults is critical as renewable energy penetration increases. A key component in maintaining synchronization and system stability is the phase-locked loop (PLL). A novel method is proposed that improves fault ride through (FRT) performance of PLL by utilizing zero-sequence and negative-sequence components to detect grid faults. This approach enables the PLL to maintain synchronization with the prefault phase, and this method's effectiveness is validated through comparative simulations in Matlab Simulink, conducted under various fault conditions, demonstrate the proposed approach's superior stability over existing methods.
