Dual Coupled Inductors Based Ultra-High Voltage Gain DC-DC Converter with Continuous Input Current

The high-gain dc-dc converter plays a crucial role in the interface between the low-voltage renewable energy and the high-voltage dc bus. This paper presents a single active switched dc converter with ultra-high voltage boost capability for renewable energy system applications. Dual coupled inductors are used in the proposed converter to achieve an ultra-high voltage gain, which also allows lower voltage stress of semiconductor devices to be obtained to improve system efficiency. Furthermore, the current-fed input port of the converter provides excellent performance for sensitive source applications such as photovoltaics, due to its continuous input current with minimal ripple. The comparison of existing solutions shows that the topology proposed in this paper has more advantages in terms of the number of components, voltage gain and voltage stress. Moreover, detailed steady-state performance analysis is provided to guide the parameter design. Finally, a simulation model with 20V to <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$400 \mathrm{V} / 400 \mathrm{W}$</tex> is built to verify the proposed converter, and the results show the effectiveness.
