Modeling and Electromagnetic-Dynamic Analysis of Null-Flux EDS Considering Line-Motor Propulsion System
Electrodynamic suspension (EDS) system integrates the functions of propulsion, suspension and guidance. The propulsion and suspension subsystems are independent in structure, coupled in function. Considering the functional coupling, a simple and efficient calculation model containing the two subsystems is essential to investigate the dynamic characteristics of the EDS system. An mathematical model was proposed to calculate the electromagnetic and dynamic characteristics. Afterward, the influence of thrust introduction on the suspension-guidance performance of the EDS system was studied. The effects of multi-degree-of-freedom (DOF) motions on dynamic characteristics of EDS system were analyzed by the proposed model. The obtained results indicate that the functional coupling relationship between propulsion and suspension-guidance system is weaker in high speed operation than that in low speed operation. The electromagnetic force and torque contributed by the propulsion system have less effect on the vertical operation stability of the system. The mathematical calculation method proposed in this paper can be used to simulate the dynamic behavior of EDS system from floating to stable suspension operation.
