Comparative Analysis of Wire-Wound and PCB Coil Magnetically Levitation Moving-Magnet Planar Motor
Magnetically levitated moving-magnet planar motors (MLMMPMs) can be broadly classified into wire-wound and PCB coil types, each exhibiting distinct characteristics. Therefore, this paper compares wire-wound and PCB Coil MLMMPM. The comparative analysis of the structure, the electromagnetic field, and the way of generating electromagnetic force in 6 degrees of freedom (6 DOF) is presented. The results show that the PCB coil MLMMPM has a lower magnetic field harmonic, greater permanent magnet utilization, and simpler electromagnetic force distribution relationship. The wire-wound MLMMPM has a higher current density to produce greater thrust.
