A Novel Topology for Online Condition Monitoring on-State Voltage of Power Devices

In power systems, the stable operation of power converters depends on the reliability of power devices. Monitoring the on-state voltage (<tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$V_{\text {on}}$</tex>) of these devices is crucial for enhancing efficiency and preventing faults. However, existing condition monitoring (CM) techniques are primarily offline, while current online methods neglect the impacts of aging and temperature on accuracy. To address these shortcomings, a novel online CM topology is proposed in this paper, based on the symmetry of diode conduction time and temperature compensation. A 1kW Buck converter simulation using Saber validated the proposed topology, achieving measurement accuracies of 99.99% across a wide temperature range, demonstrating high precision and minimal temperature dependence. The outcomes serve as a key step for enhancing the reliability of power electronic systems, and offering new directions for the development of power devices online CM technologies.
