Hierarchical Capacitor Voltage Balancing Control Strategy for MMC Rectifier
Modular multilevel converter (MMC) is widely used in distributed power generation due to its modularity, scalability, and high output voltage quality. Capacitor voltage balance in submodules is vital for MMC system stability, and large voltage fluctuations and uneven energy distribution disrupt normal operation. This paper presents a hierarchical control method for MMC submodule capacitor voltage regulation, covering overall control, arm control, upper and lower arm control, and individual submodule control. A PLECS model is used to validate the effectiveness of the strategy.
