Performance Analysis of Underwater Acoustic OTFS System Based on Iterative Channel Estimation

Orthogonal Time Frequency Space (OTFS) technology maps Time-Frequency (TF) domain variation channel to the stable channel Delay-Doppler (DD) domain, effectively mitigating the adverse effects of multipath delays and Doppler shifts on underwater acoustic communication systems. To tackle challenges such as strong multipath, extensive delay spread, and Doppler expansion, we first introduce an underwater acoustic communication system model based on OTFS, and iterative channel estimation is incorporated. Simulations assess the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of OTFS in comparison to traditional OFDM and DFT-s-OFDM systems. Additionally, signal recovery is evaluated across various Doppler frequency shifts. The results show that the OTFS system offers superior reliability in underwater acoustic environments compared to traditional communication systems.
