Performance Improvement of Hybrid Rf/Vlc Systems Through Cooperative Rsma and $m$ Cap Modulation

In this paper, we propose a comprehensive performance evaluation of a hybrid radio frequency (RF) and visible light communication (VLC) system utilizing cooperative ratesplitting multiple access (RSMA) with multiband carrier-less amplitude and phase (<tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$m$</tex> CAP) modulation. Our study focuses on an indoor downlink network where user mobility is assumed and modeled using the random way-point (RWP) model, and the users employ decode-and-forward (DF) relaying to enhance the communication reliability. The performance of such a system is analyzed in terms of sum-rate and bit error rate (BER), by contrasting the proposed cooperative RSMA scheme with the conventional RSMA and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) techniques. Numerical results demonstrate that cooperative RSMA significantly outperforms conventional RSMA and NOMA, achieving higher sum-rates and lower BERs. They also show that the integration of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$m$</tex> CAP modulation enhances the achievable sum-rate, making the proposed scheme a promising solution for improving the quality of service (QoS) in nextgeneration hybrid RF/VLC networks.
