Robust PMSM Speed Control Based on a Novel Logarithmic Reaching Law and Generalized Discontinuous PWM

Enhancing the dynamic response and disturbance rejection is crucial in the speed control of the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). In addition, considering the inverter switching losses is important in order to achieve an efficient and effective control. In this paper, a Novel Logarithmic Sliding Mode Reaching Law (NLSMRL) is proposed to suppress the chattering effect as well as an Extended Sliding Mode Disturbance Observer (ESMDO) to estimate the lumped disturbance in order to improve the performance of the motor against external disturbances and internal variations. Additionally, the Generalized Discontinuous Pulse Width Modulation (GDPWM) is applied on the inverter to minimize the switching losses significantly by estimating the phase shift between the stator voltage and current to improve the system efficiency.
