Computational Fluid Dynamics Study of Artificial Surf Pools

This study conducted an in-depth analysis of artificial surf pools using computational fluid dynamics methods. The research employed FLOW-3D software for numerical simulations, focusing on examining the effects of key parameters such as water depth, gravity body radius, and pool bottom slope on wave characteristics. Through systematic parametric studies, we revealed the complex interactions between these design parameters. Results show that wave height tends to decrease as water depth increases, and this trend is more pronounced when the gravity body radius is larger. The pool bottom slope affects the specific manifestation of the relationship between wave height and water depth. The study also identified a specific range of water depths where wave height decreases most rapidly, which is significant for determining optimal operating water depths. This research not only advances the theoretical study of artificial surf pools but also provides scientific basis for practical engineering applications. It is expected to promote further development of artificial surfing technology and provide references for designing more efficient and stable artificial surf pools.
