Parent’s Age and Child’s Welfare in the Light of Polish Family Law

Parent’s Age and Child’s Welfare in the Light of Polish Family Law The article addresses the issue of parental age in the context of Polish law, and in particular the fundamental value of the well-being of the child. Both parents who are too young and parents who are too old are not considered beneficial for the child. The law refers to the issue of parental age in relation to the minimum marriage age, the legal status of teenage parents, the premise of the age difference between the adoptive parent and the adopted child, and medically assisted procreation procedures financed from public funds. Unfortunately, these regulations, as well as the practice of their application, are not coherent and consistent, and they do not take into account the on-going socio-cultural changes.

The law refers to the issue of parental age in relation to the minimum marriage age, the legal status of teenage parents, the premise of the age difference between the adoptive parent and the adopted child, and medically assisted procreation procedures financed from public funds.
