Impact of Human Capital Development on Organisational Growth in the Nigerian Banking Industry

This study explores the impact of human capital development on organizational growth in the banking sector, with a focus on Access Bank branches in Ado and Ikere Ekiti. It assesses how training programs, leadership development, and digital skills influence employee productivity and operational efficiency. A quantitative research method was employed, using structured questionnaires to collect data from 105 employees across four branches through a census sampling technique. Data were analyzed using inferential statistics. Findings revealed that training (p = 0.015, F = 6.14) and digital upskilling (p = 0.003, F = 9.15) had a significant positive impact on organizational growth. Employees who underwent structured training demonstrated improved job performance, and digital skills led to greater operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. In contrast, leadership development did not show a significant effect (p = 0.068, F = 3.39), indicating weaknesses in current leadership initiatives. The study concludes that strategic investment in training and digital transformation is essential for driving growth and maintaining competitiveness in the banking sector. It recommends updating training programs to match industry needs, reviewing leadership development frameworks, and expanding digital skill-building initiatives to adequately prepare employees for future demands.
