Investigating University Adapting Technology in Teaching Method of Traditional Classrooms To E-Learning as Impact of Covid-19 Pandemic; Case Study of Advantages and Disadvantages in Vietnam and Indonesia

Abstract - The traditional teaching-learning method was formerly a dominant method in the field of education. However, the pandemic crisis of Covid-19 has impacted educational institutions like universities, colleges, schools around the world. The purpose of the present study is to investigate university approach in its teaching method of traditional classrooms teaching to E-Learning as impact of the pandemic. A case study was conducted in Indonesia and Vietnam. Questionaire and iinterviews method were used to get various views of respondents. E-learning is believed as dominant methods used than traditional teaching methods during the Covid-19 period. This theoretical and empirical framework on the new technologies got used by lecturer and students in both Indonesia and Vietnam. The new pedagogical design paid more attention than traditional one. However, since the Covid-19 has passed, it is prepared for future Covid like pandemic and traditional one still favourable for university students in some material learning. The research suggests that e-leaning and traditional teaching methods are both important in the area of higher education developments regardless critical situation occured.Keywords: e-learning, traditional teaching methods, technology education, Covid-19, higher education. Abstrak - Metode belajar mengajar tradisional sebelumnya merupakan metode dominan di bidang pendidikan. Namun, krisis pandemi Covid-19 telah berdampak pada lembaga pendidikan seperti universitas, perguruan tinggi, sekolah di seluruh dunia. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menyelidiki pendekatan universitas dalam metode pengajarannya dari kelas tradisional yang mengajar ke E-Learning sebagai dampak dari pandemi. Studi kasus dilakukan di Indonesia dan Vietnam. Metode kuesioner dan wawancara digunakan untuk mendapatkan berbagai pandangan responden. E-learning diyakini sebagai metode dominan yang digunakan daripada metode pengajaran tradisional selama periode Covid-19. Kerangka empiris tentang teknologi baru ini digunakan oleh dosen dan mahasiswa di Indonesia dan Vietnam. Desain pedagogis baru lebih memperhatikan daripada yang tradisional. Namun, karena Covid-19 telah berlalu, model pembelajaran berteknologi dimaksud dapat dipersiapkan untuk pandemi sejenis di masa depan dan metode tradisional tetap masih diperlukan bagi mahasiswa pada materi tertentu. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa e-leaning dan metode pengajaran tradisional keduanya penting dalam bidang pengembangan pendidikan tinggi terlepas dari situasi kritis yang terjadi.Kata kunci: e-learning, metode pengajaran tradisional, teknologi pendidikan, Covid-19, pendidikan tinggi
