Abstract. The integration of physical therapy methods into the scheme of myopia prevention (and treatment) requires the development of a diagnostic approach for evaluating the functional state of the muscular component of the visual apparatus and determining its effectiveness. The aim of the study is to determine the influence of myopia on the state of endurance of the convergent-accommodative apparatus of the eye. Materials and Methods. The study was conducted on 30 university students from the same academic year, divided into two subgroups: 10 students with myopia and 20 without refractive impairments. The research utilized a novel method developed by the authors for determining convergence-accommodative endurance. Results. Differences were identified in the functional state of the muscular component of the visual apparatus between participants with myopia and those with normal refraction. Conclusions. 1. The duration of the accommodative moment is an informative indicator for evaluating the efficiency of the oculomotor component of the functional visual sensory system. 2. The indicator of endurance of the convergent-accommodative apparatus of the eye, defined as the difference in the duration of the accommodative moment when presented with fonts of various sizes (№ 6 and № 1), reflects the functional state of the muscular component of the eye's visual apparatus. 3. The endurance index of the convergence-accommodative system is a variable indicative parameter that serves as a qualitative marker of the functional reserve of the eye’s muscular component. 4. According to the results of the conducted research the difference of the functional state of the muscular component of the visual apparatus in the conditions of established myopia and in the absence of refractive disorders was found, which confirms the informativeness of the developed method of diagnostics of the convergent-accommodation apparatus endurance. 5. Measuring the endurance index of the convergence-accommodative system before and after visual load can be effectively used to assess the efficacy of physical therapy interventions
