Teaching Language Grammar with a Focus on the Learner: Analysis of Written Tasks in the Development of Language Skills in the Fields of Lexicology and Morphology

Since the 1960s, teaching approaches in Europe have transitioned from traditional methods to innovative didactic strategies designed to actively engage students in the learning process. Within this context, student-centered grammar instruction aims to enhance the quality of learning by integrating teaching and learning processes. This paper reviews various scientific perspectives on grammar teaching, highlighting the importance of organizing instruction in ways that motivate students and promote interaction and communication. The primary focus of the study is to analyze students’ understanding of grammar, including lexicology and morphology, through written tasks. A mixed-methods approach combining quantitative and qualitative analyses was employed. Data were collected via questionnaires administered to 684 students and 50 teachers from “1 Maji” School in Tirana and “Peqin” School in Peqin city. The results, analyzed using statistical methods and presented in tables and graphs, illustrate the impact of different didactic strategies on students’ grammar acquisition. This study aligns with the curriculum guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Sports and the Pre-University Education Strategy, offering valuable insights for contemporary grammar teaching practices. Abstract
