On the Mistakes of the Feraği Dictionary II
To understand the works of Ali Shir Nava'i, many dictionaries of Chagatai Turkish have been compiled in every corner of the world. One of these is the Chagatai Turkish-Persian dictionary called Miftāḥu'l-Luġat by Muģammed bin Żiyā'u'd-dín Ģüseyní, who wrote under the pen name Ferāġí in the 17th century in the Iranian region, dedicated to the Safavid Shah Ŝafí bin Ŝafí. This work, which has a total of 720 entries, was published by Farhad Rahimi in Turkey in 2021 and in Iran in 2024. The entries in this work were selected from a wide range of Turkic languages. However, since he selected most of the examples from Nava'i's works, especially from his work Ġarāyibü'ŝ-Ŝıġar, it would not be wrong to call this work a Chagatai Turkish Dictionary. The only copy of this work, written in 1642, is kept in the National Library of Iran-Tehran under number 5-19055. These dictionaries, usually written in the Ottoman Empire, Iran, Azerbaijan, Khorasan, India, or Turkestan, and which have great value for the history of the development of the Turkic language, have formed a lexicographical school. These dictionaries, in Caferoğlu's words, unfortunately, have not been free from errors. Just like in all the dictionaries written, there are such errors in the Feragi Dictionar
