Overview of the Application Progress of Digital Twins in Agriculture

This paper reviews and discusses the application of digital twin (DT) technology in agriculture. The article first introduces the key concepts of digital twin technology, discusses the interdisciplinary technologies required for the application of digital twin technology in agriculture, and analyzes the characteristics and challenges of digital twin implementation in different regions. After that, according to the digital twin rating evaluation system proposed by predecessors, the specific studies on several agricultural digital twins this year were analyzed and graded, and it was concluded that most of the agricultural digital twins are still in their infancy. Finally, the article looks forward to the future of digital twin technology in agriculture, indicating its potential to transform crop monitoring, environmental management, and decision-making through intelligent real-time systems.
