Analysis of the Transmission Mechanism of Urbanization's Impact on Energy Consumption Intensity Based on Multiple Regression Models

Under the background of the "double carbon" target, the decarburization transformation of the economic system has become a key strategy to break through the energy, resource and environmental constraints in the new era, and a core path to promote the rapid implementation of the goal of green and high-quality development. Based on the panel data of 2015-2024, this study constructs a multiple linear regression model around four core dimensions: digital development level, economic growth, industrial structure and energy consumption structure; the model can not only verify the short-term dynamic logic between the energy consumption intensity and the four key transmission factors, but also reveal its long-term equilibrium relationship. Research has shown that urbanization has a positive effect on reducing energy intensity through four paths: digital industrialization, economic scale expansion, industrial structure upgrading and energy consumption change. The effect of economic growth is the most prominent, followed by industrial upgrading and technological capacity optimization, and the marginal contribution of energy consumption structure adjustment is relatively limited. Based on the perspective of digital transformation and informatization reform, this paper proposes an innovative theoretical framework of digital empowerment for regional low-carbon transformation and structural optimization, which provides decision-making support for local governments to improve the digital industrial policy system and promote the synergistic development of the urbanization process and the digitalization and greening of energy consumption.
