Collaborative Optimization of Tourism and Transportation Spatial Structures: Strategy Analysis Based on Citespace

Tourism transport is a major contributor to the development of modern tourism, but there is a significant gap in research on the spatial structures of both sectors. This study explores the spatial structures of tourism and transport by reviewing the literature published between 1992 and 2024 and analysing their research content, using the CiteSpace bibliometric tool to conduct a visual analysis of the Chinese literature on spatial structures of tourism and transport. The study examines the characteristics of the publication, such as publication date and publication context, and identifies research foci through keyword co-occurrence, cluster analysis and content analysis. The results show that publications on regional structures in tourism and transport peaked after the introduction of integrated policies, but have since declined. The research trend points to the prevalence of independent studies with an increasing tendency towards multidisciplinary collaboration. Interactive research content is limited, focusing primarily on the impact of transport and tourism on urban spatial structures. The aim of this thesis is to provide theoretical support and practical insights to improve the optimisation of tourism transport and promote the overall development of the tourism sector.
