THE ROLE OF DIGITAL PLATFORMS IN SHAPING THE PUBLIC INFORMATION SPACE

The article examines the role of digital platforms in shaping the public information space amid digitalization, globalization, and the rapid development of communication technologies. The purpose of the study is to identify the mechanisms through which digital platforms influence the processes of formation, organization, and regulation of the public information space in Ukraine, as well as to outline its functions within the structure of a modern democratic society. The analysis aims to identify the key features of the information society phenomenon; provide a classification of information space types; explore the role of social media in shaping the information environment; describe the current state of Ukraine's information space; highlight the main challenges affecting its functioning; and propose a conceptual model for an effective information architecture.Methodology and methods: the study is based on structural-functional and systems analysis, elements of comparative analysis, content analysis, and authorial modeling. The research shows that digital platforms, particularly social networks, have fundamentally transformed the logic of information creation and dissemination, the nature of communicative interaction, and the role of users.Social media serve not only as communication tools but also as spaces for shaping public opinion, enabling civic oversight, and enhancing the accountability of public institutions.Scientific novelty: the study presents a comprehensive architecture of an effective information space, which includes criteria for hierarchical organization, types of interaction, source reliability, knowledge systematization, algorithmic navigation, technological tools, and the role of the user as an active participant in the information process. It is shown that participants in such a space are no longer merely consumers or creators of content, but are becoming a civil society oversight institution that monitors information quality and the transparency of government actions, particularly at the local level.
