Bàn về nguồn gốc chữ đơn âm đa nghĩa trong tiếng Hán hiện đại
In modern Chinese, a diverse array of characters exists, encompassing monosyllabic-monosemantic and polysyllabic-polysemous variations, with the predominant category being monosyllabic-polysemous characters. However, when studying documents such as dictionaries, rhyme dictionaries, ancient classics, etc., the author discovered that most of today's monosyllabic-polysemous Chinese characters are polysyllabic-polysemous Chinese characters from the Middle Chinese and Old Chinese. Therefore, the author in combination with research of Sino-Vietnamese and Old Sino-Vietnamese sounds, preliminarily points out the monosyllabic-polysemous characters in modern Chinese originated from monosyllabic-monosemantic characters, polysyllabic-polysemous characters, homophone substitutes characters, or from the standardization of pronunciation; at the same time, classifies the monosyllabic-polysemous characters in Chinese, as well as points out the causes leading to monosyllabic-polysemous characters in modern Chinese. This helps in learning and understanding the meaning of Chinese characters more deeply, especially when reading and translating ancient Chinese texts. Keywords: Old Sino-Vietnamese, polysyllabic, polysemous, monosyllabic, monosemantic.
