Constraining possible new physics presence in the charm sector
New physics beyond the standard model has been hinted through a number of observations, one of them being the observed flavor sector anomalies, such as those seen in the lepton flavor universality ratios in the charged current [Formula: see text] transitions. It is thus logical to investigate new physics presence in other charged current transitions as well. In this work, we explore possible new physics contributions in the charm meson decays that proceed via the charged current [Formula: see text] transitions. Such a study furnishes a unique window to explore the up sector of the standard model. In particular, we analyze the decay modes [Formula: see text], within a general effective Lagrangian approach which includes new physics contributions. The currently available experimental data in the charm meson sector are used to obtain the parameter space of new couplings. The sensitivity to new physics of various [Formula: see text]-dependent observables is then explored using the obtained parameter space.
