Abstract

Amidst the surging tide of globalization, the significance of translating cultural heritage has become ever more pronounced. It has not only emerged as a vital conduit for the fusion and enhanced comprehension of diverse cultures but has also paved a novel pathway for cultural inheritance and safeguarding. From the vantage point of translation studies, this research delves deep into the application of cultural adaptation strategies within the realm of cultural heritage translation and the consequential responsibilities shouldered by translators. Initially, it lucidly defines the concept of cultural adaptation and expounds upon its pivotal role in faithfully reproducing cultural connotations during the translation of cultural heritage. Subsequently, it meticulously dissects the multifaceted responsibilities of translators in translation practice, spanning dimensions such as cultural dissemination, cultural preservation, and ethical deliberations. Through specific case studies, it uncovers the methodologies for effectively implementing cultural adaptation strategies in the translation process of cultural heritage, thereby fulfilling the understanding and acceptance requisites of the target audience. Finally, it accentuates the core value of translators as cultural liaisons and advocates for intensified research and profound reflection on cultural adaptation in translation practice, with the aim of propelling the inheritance and development of cultural heritage to unprecedented heights.
