Connettività regionale in Eurasia: il punto di vista dal Kazakistan
Kazakhstan’s economic development and political status are closely tied to regional and transregional connectivity initiatives. In the current geopolitical climate, the country’s ability to establish and maintain infrastructural and commercial linkages with neighboring regions has become increasingly critical. Leveraging its strategic geographic position, Kazakhstan actively fosters connections with China, Russia, the Caucasus, and the European Union to enhance transportation systems and trade corridors. National strategies prioritize the expansion and modernization of infrastructure, particularly roads, border facilities, and ports. This article examines the complex interplay of geopolitical, identity-based, and regional factors that shape Kazakhstan’s connectivity agenda. It also considers the diversity of externally sponsored projects not only within Kazakhstan but across the broader Central Asian region. Despite the growing number of initiatives, significant challenges remain—ranging from investment constraints and policy coordination issues to road congestion, infrastructure deficits, and trade imbalances. These obstacles continue to limit Kazakhstan’s full potential as a key global trade corridor.
