Kratek povzetek temeljnih načel oblikovanja domačih strokovnih izrazov (terminov) (s posebnim ozirom na športno področje)

Most competent linguistic sources interpret the term termin as a technical term (ex. Gr. terminus technicus). The word term and the phrase technical term are therefore synonyms. The derivative terminology is also an established international term and means two things: a set of terms or technical terms in a particular field and a science/scientific discipline that deals with terms or technical terms. The two-word term terminology of sport therefore means two things: a set of sports technical terms and a sports science discipline that deals with sports technical terms. The words term and terminology have become an integral part of the Slovenian literary language, which is why they also appear in the SSKJ without a qualifier that would warn of dubious use. In this article, I use the domestic and the international term alternately: domestic because of the respect for the mother tongue and the strengthening of its communicative value, international because of the international recognition of the topics dealt with in the article. The article contains some more concrete examples that illustrate the diversity (and complexity) of terminological approaches. Both the terminology department of every science and every individual involved in the invention of specialised terminology must know some of the basic principles of this creative work. I have yet to see anyone publish these principles in one place. Much has been written on this subject in various sources, so it was necessary to make a compilation of them, which is now published in this article in 'one piece' and with special reference to the field of sport. The writer of these lines is of course not a linguist, so a professional linguist would write many things differently. And not all linguists would defend certain positions equally. At the end of the article, the most important sources that have guided the author of this article, both in his many years of terminological work and in this article, are also mentioned. It is hoped that the article will also be of help to the field terminological commission at the Faculty of Sport, which has not yet proven itself.
