SPIRITUAL CRISIS IN TERMS OF SOCIAL TRANSFORMATIONS: DYNAMICS AND MAIN TRENDS

Objective of the study is to analyze the main manifestations of the spiritual crisis in modern society.   Methodological basis of the study includes the ideas outlined in the works by O. Spengler, J. Ortega y Gasset, E. Fromm, G. Marcuse; the provisions of the identity theory, consumer society and spiritual alienation.   Results of the study. The spiritual crisis, which began at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, has a tendency to deepen. In contrast to the technological optimism of the beginning of the New Age, modernity, against the background of breakthrough technical and technological achievements, demonstrates the loss of human ability for spiritual and moral development and creative activity. The one-dimensional consumer man, focused on destructive social practices, has replaced the creator man. The resolution of the crisis is in the transformation of the value and ideological attitudes of modern society, capable to humanize the consciousness and activities of its members.   Prospects of the study. A philosophical understanding of the trends in the manifestation of the spiritual crisis that has engulfed the modern world is socially significant for understanding the choice of the further path of the development of human civilization.
