Perancangan Cover Buku “Identitas Yang Terbelah: Khalayak Aktif, Interseksionalitas Perempuan, Dan Perlawanan Senyap Anak Muda Indonesia

Book covers play a crucial role in attracting readers and representing the content of a book. This paper focuses on the design of the book cover for “Identitas yang Terbelah: Khalayak Aktif, Interseksionalitas Perempuan, dan Perlawanan Senyap Anak Muda Indonesia”, published by the alumni association of the Cultural and Media Studies program at Universitas Gadjah Mada. The design approach adopts the principles of layout, color, and typeface as proposed by Surianto Rustan. A qualitative research method is employed, following the structured process of print layout design. The findings indicate that an effective book cover design is not only visually appealing but also communicative in conveying the book’s title and representing its overall content. The structured layout process aids in creating a well-organized and coherent design. The layout principles of emphasis, sequence, balance, and unity are closely related to color, illustration, and typeface, serving as essential guidelines in the cover design process. A book cover is not merely a decorative element but a strategic visual communication tool that influences readers' perceptions, engagement, and decisions to purchase or read a book.
