Effect of Welding Voltage, Gas Flow Rate and Welding Current on Impact Strength of Mild Steel

The objective of this paper was to investigate the influence of welding voltage, gas flow rate and welding current on impact strength of mild steel plate in a Tungsten Inert Gas using Response Surface Methodology. Data obtained reveals that the Gas Flow Rate of 10lit/min, Welding current of 160Amp and Voltage of 9 Volts, results in Impact strength of 100.9 J after the Welding process. In conclusion, it was discovered that the Impact strength is significant affected by the voltage.
