Controllability-Oriented Design Method of DFIGs in Wind Turbine Systems
This work presents an optimization approach for doubly-fed induction generators in wind turbine systems, enhancing both electromagnetic performance and controllability. After evaluating different machine design possibilities using the proposed analytic design-modeling approach, controllability is considered through selected controllability metrics that enhance the machine’s response to power system transients. A multi-objective genetic algorithm is used to optimize both efficiency and controllability, producing a Pareto front to visualize the tradeoffs. Although these are inherently conflicting objectives, some design solutions can be identified that improve both aspects.
