Advanced Magnetic Equivalent Circuit Modeling for Electrically Excited Synchronous Machines with Rotor Rotation

This work presents a magnetic equivalent circuit model for electrically excited synchronous machines, based on a mesh formulation that accounts for both magnetic saturation and rotor position. The nonlinear system arising from magnetic saturation is solved through an iterative procedure. The model includes a detailed analytical description of the reluctance network, capturing all key magnetic phenomena including air gap flux density behavior and 2D leakage fluxes. The rotor motion is incorporated by shifting a fixed rotor topology with respect to the stator network. Post-processing capabilities allow for the computation of flux linkages in the dq reference frame and electromagnetic torque.
