Design and Optimization of a Novel 15-phase Redundant Flux-Switching Permanent Magnet Machine for Wind Power Generation
This paper presents the design and analysis of a 15-phase redundant flux-switching permanent magnet (FSPM) generator optimized for wind power generation. The proposed multi-phase configuration enhances performance under variable wind conditions while improving reliability and power density. Using sensitivity analysis and genetic algorithm optimization, the optimal 30-slot/32-pole configuration was identified. Comparative results show significant improvements over the benchmark design, including higher electromagnetic torque, increased output power, improved voltage regulation, and higher efficiency. A prototype of 15-phase FSPM generator was fabricated and tested, validating the analytical predictions. The proposed generator demonstrates superior performance and redundancy, offering a promising solution for advanced wind power generation systems.
