Analytical Modeling and Analysis of Current Sensor Faults in PMSM Drives
Current sensor faults in AC electric drives can cause control inaccuracies and instability which may lead to component damage. In this paper, current sensor faults in permanent magnet synchronous motor drives are modeled and their impact on the control system and motor performance is presented. The paper models all common types of current sensor faults, studies their propagation in the control system, and their impact on the torque of the motor. Results that demonstrate the models’ accuracies are obtained and verified in both simulations and experiments.
