A Novel High-Torque-Density Permanent Magnets Vernier Machine with Enhanced Flux Modulation Effect and Armature MMF
Permanent magnets vernier machines (PMVMs) have drawn growing attention owing to the advantage of high torque density. This paper proposes a novel high-torque-density permanent magnets vernier machine (PMVM) with enhanced flux modulation effect and armature magnetomotive force (MMF). The modular stator of proposed topology plays the role of dual-modulation unit, which not only enhances flux modulation effect, but also enhances the ability of winding linking the no-load flux. The working principle is analyzed and 2D finite element models are built. The results show that the torque density of proposed PMVM is 30.1% larger than that of the regular counterpart.
