Significantly Refining the Hydrogen Barrier Presentation of SiO2 Coatings Through a Crystalline and Amorphous Design
An amorphous SiO 2 /crystalline SiO 2 composite hydrogen barrier coating was created to enrich the hydrogen obstruction capabilities of SiO 2 coatings. The composite hydrogen barrier layers were made via magnetron sputtering. The hydrogen barricade capabilities were investigated using the electrochemical hydrogen penetration curve, and their phase chemistries and structure were described using XRD and SEM. Additionally, the pull-off method was used to describe the adhesive force. The results show that the obtained coatings have uniform grain size and high density. Increasing the preparation temperature of the amorphous SiO 2 can enhance the permeation reduction factor (PRF) and the adhesion force. When the temperature is at 250 °C, the PRF is 41, and the adhesion force is 22 MPa, showing the best hydrogen barrier performance.
