Insights into the perinatal transmission of respiratory syncytial virus and its implications on offspring's neurocognitive disorders
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common inciting agent for lower respiratory tract infections in infants. This study presents an updated literature review outlining mechanisms of perinatal maternal RSV transmission potential to influence fetal neurodevelopment. Recent evidence supports RSV's role as a risk factor for adverse neurological outcomes; however, our current understanding of RSV infection's impact on neural function remains limited. This article aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the subject matter.
