Simulation Calculation of Arcing in Medium-Voltage Field Excitation Cabinet Based on the Improved Standard Calculation Method
During an arc flash incident within a mediumvoltage excitation cabinet, the immense energy instantaneously released generates a significant pressure impulse inside the compartment, posing a threat to equipment, structures, and personnel. This paper analyzes the energy release process of arc flash and employs an improved standard calculation method to calculate the internal temperature rise and pressure within the cabinet. Considering the structural and dimensional characteristics of the excitation cabinet, the Simulink module is utilized for simulation calculations. Based on the simulation results, engineering validation is performed to determine the optimal number of hinges. Utilizing these parameters, a prototype is designed and tested, with results indicating that the error between the simulation calculations and experimental measurements is within 5.5%. Consequently, this study provides robust technical support for the safe design of excitation cabinets and demonstrates significant guidance in engineering practice.
