Livestock Management Platform: An Agile Web-based Agricultural Solution
The livestock industry is a cornerstone of global agriculture, supporting 1.3 billion people and contributing 40% to the world's agricultural output. In the Philippines, where farming is a way of life for many, livestock and poultry play a vital role in both livelihoods and food security. However, the sector faces persistent challenges, including inefficiencies in traditional practices and the threat of animal diseases. These issues call for innovative solutions to modernize livestock management and improve outcomes for farmers. The study presents a Livestock Management Portal designed for the Department of Agriculture in the Caraga Region. By replacing outdated manual systems with a digital, web-based platform, the portal provides a centralized way to collect, manage, and analyze livestock data. With real-time updates and user-friendly features, it empowers farmers to make smarter decisions and ensures better management of livestock resources. Built using Agile Methodology and evaluated against ISO/IEC 25010 international standards, the portal earned overall quality ratings of 3.9152 and got high marks for its functionality (4.43) and reliability (4.34), though opportunities for improvement remain in areas like security (2.78). Overall, the platform shows great potential to transform livestock management in the region, paving the way for a more efficient and sustainable agricultural future while addressing the needs of farmers and stakeholders alike.
